How to Submit a Stand-up in Slack
Enji allows teams to submit their stand-ups in a separate Slack channel to keep these reports organized and accessible. This helps teams keep their communication in a single location.
Users can submit stand-ups in Slack in two ways:
- Slack Channel Message: Mention the Enji Bot in a project’s Slack channel.
- Direct Bot Message: Send the stand-up directly to the Enji Bot in a private message.
Slack channel message
Open a project's Slack channel, write a stand-up in the following format, and send it as a normal message:
Verify the bot's name with a manager! It may differ from the examples shown below.
Send the message in the channel.
The bot will confirm that it has received the stand-up.
Handling Errors:
- This error occurs if the stand-up does not meet the required format. In this example, the word "Today" is misspelled, and the bot could not recognize it. Correct the text, and the bot will accept it:
Find out more about stand-up formatting in our glossary and feature's page.
- If the Slack channel is not linked to any project in Enji, the bot will display an error. Inform a project manager to resolve this issue.
Direct message
Open a direct message with the Enji Bot and click the Start Standup button.
If a user is part of multiple Enji projects, the bot will prompt them to select the project for which they want to submit the stand-up. Choose the relevant project to begin.
The bot will ask a series of questions:
- What did you do yesterday?
- Did you meet your goals?
- What are you planning to do today?
- Do you have any problems to report?
- What makes you happy today?
Respond to the questions in order or use the Yes/No/Skip buttons.
The bot will compile your responses into a stand-up and post it in your project’s Slack channel in this format:
You've successfully submitted your stand-up!
Handling Authorization Errors:
If you encounter an authorization error, simply click Authorize in Slack. A browser window will open, prompting you to select the correct Slack Workspace and click Allow. The bot will then automatically authenticate you.
