Introduction to Asynchronous Stand-ups and Bots

Enji's Asynchronous Stand-up Bot allows leaders, managers, and employees to stay up-to-date on progress and activities without lengthy meetings and time-zone differences. This data works in concert with other Enji features to centralize team and project information.

Bots, Standups and Alerting

Why Enji uses asynchronous stand-ups

Enji was created to help teams unlock their potential for better performance, whether team members are located in one room or separated by different time zones. Asynchronous communication supports this aim and text-based stand-ups offer several benefits:

  • Remove the issue of time zones from distributed teams.
  • Are easy to read quickly.
  • Enji's features use stand-up data to produce concise reports and other insights.
  • Save time and reduce stress.

Enji allows teams to report on their activities without stand-ups interfering with their day-to-day work.

The stand-up submission process

Each team member writes a stand-up at the beginning of their working day before the deadline established by the team. Users answer questions based on the standard stand-up format:

  • What they accomplished yesterday.
  • What they plan to do today.
  • If they have anything blocking them/Do they need assistance.

Teams and organizations have control over the specific content and amount of questions their team members must answer. Likewise, they can also determine the deadline for stand-ups.

Enji's stand-up bot also reminds team members to submit a stand-up in the Slack channel and frees the manager from the routine of reminding each team member about this. If the stand-up is not submitted after the reminder, the bot will repeat this action to remind the team member again about the need to share updates on their work. Teams can configure the interval between sending reminders and the number of reminders to match their needs.

Stand-ups are saved in a database that allows users to access the text at any time to see what a specific employee's plan was for that day.

Where can users submit stand-ups?

Enji allows users to submit stand-ups in a way that is most convenient for them:

  • Organization's Enji website.
  • Lack Channel.
  • Messenger.

The Enji Stand-up bot works where a team prefers to communicate. Users only need to set up the bot. Instructions for each option can be found on their specific help pages.

Enji uses asynchronous stand-ups to provide more context and data that features such as the AI Summarizer and Copilot can use to produce concise reports for leaders and stakeholders. They are also useful when managers look for bottlenecks in projects or when assessing employee performance. If individual metrics indicate a problem, managers can use stand-ups to understand the source of an issue.
