How we came to that
We had a great team of developers, including ourselves, but we often did not have a clear idea of what was happening in the development process. Our clients had to send multiple emails and messages to get updates, then we would try and figure out who had done what and when the project would be ready. Sound exhausting? It was. The History page gives a detailed overview of Enji's origins and our efforts to tackle these difficulties.
The worst part was that we could not understand what could help us grow and what was
holding us back. Then, it came to us: transparency.
We started with async stand-ups and check-ins to know what was happening. This reduced the chances of unpleasant surprises and our overall level of stress.
We continued to develop our approach to transparency and follow it today, adapting to new challenges as we go. To help us, we follow four principles.
Four principles
Tech leaders need access to their engineers’ work to observe. If they see a problem, they step in, fix it, then step out.
Learn moreCreate clear data through established routines that show what engineers are doing.
Learn moreData first, people second. That’s how tech leaders plan their budgets and grow their businesses.
Learn moreDevelop an engineering mindset in tech teams to create quality software for a better world.
Learn moreOur beliefs
These principles and transparency are intertwined. Without each other, they lose their purpose.
Will they help a software development business grow and increase revenue? Yes. That is not the only reason for us, however.
Enji is for engineers who care about the future of software.
Without a sense of responsibility, engineers will not follow disciplined routines to create data for observation. Why should they show their work when they do not care?
Enji is for those who care, and who
want to be performance-oriented
